The sports team of Luise and Caroline were wonderful providing snorkeling gear and other water activities. Included trips on shore were to nearby beaches- two were secluded and beautiful while another beach was quite crowded. We did not add on excursions but heard mixed reviews about many- all came with a charge. If those meals weren't enough there was always the early morning breakfast, the 5:00 afternoon snack and a midnight snack- you will not go hungry. Outstanding service and food preparation for evening meals. Dinner choices were displayed in advance with several selections. Buffet breakfast and lunch were good, though no buffets are going to be great. Service for breakfast, lunch and dinner was first class. The crew, especially the bartenders, waiters, maintenance and sports team was outstanding.
The sailing experience with the Star Clipper through Costa Rica and Panama was excellent. Overall, great experience! Just sharing things we wish someone had shared with us.… Perhaps this is common knowledge and we just weren't prepared. While many passengers seemed to enjoy this aspect, I feel like there should be some kind of warning about dinners for anyone with social anxiety of any kind or who might simply be an introvert.

We also felt social pressure to attend the full dinner every night seated with strangers for several hours each evening conversing as best we could in multiple languages can be exhausting. Not tragic, but multiple awkward moments. We prepaid our tips and didn't know until the end of the cruise that our bartenders were not covered by this (random conversation with other passengers). Example, we didn't know there was a "white" night or that people dress up for the "captain's dinner" (wrong clothes). As others have mentioned, communication is not always clear. We feel it was a good value as well and would LOVE to sail again now that we have a better understanding of how things work. Our cabin was very comfortable for 2, service was always top notch, food was tasty and always plentiful, and the ship itself is simply beautiful and well-maintained. Our first trip on Star Clipper and we would definitely recommend.
